OVERVIEW
Glenaire Retirement Community is proud to present the sixth annual Glenaire 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run on
Saturday, April 2, 2022. The race will start and finish at the Community located at 5000 Glenhope Court
in Cary. The 5K starts at 9:00am and the 1 Mile Fun Run starts at 9:05am. Most race entries include a
swag bag, t-shirt, pint glass and a free Papa Murphy’s pizza coupon. Coffee and water prerace.
Breakfast, beverages and entertainment will also be provided post-race. There will be a bag check
station available for personal items.
RACE BENEFICIARY
As a non-profit, Presbyterian-affiliated organization, Glenaire has never asked a resident to leave our
community simply because they have outlived their resources. In its 28 years, Glenaire has provided
over $5 million in financial assistance. In, 2022, we expect to provide over $350,000.00 in scholarship
funds. 100% of race proceeds will support this cause.
ENTRY FEES
All 5K participants will have the option to be timed, but recreational runners and walkers are welcome.
Although all finishers will be able to see their time at the finish, only competitive entrants will be eligible
for awards. The 5K entry fee is $30 increasing to $35 on race day. The 1 Mile Fun Run fee is $20 with no
race day increase. Registered children under the age of 12 are free, but this does not include a t-shirt. T-
shirts are available for purchase during the registration process for $10. T-shirts are guaranteed to all
those who register by March 10 th . After that date, they will be “as available”.
PACKET PICK UP AND SAME DAY REGISTRATION
Early packet pick up will be at Glenaire, 4000 Glenaire Circle in Cary on March 31 st from 4:30-7:00pm.
Same day packet pick up and registration will open at 7:30am at the start/finish line.
COURSE
This is a fast and rolling course through the neighborhoods near downtown Cary. It takes a short tour on
the Higgins Greenway. It starts and finishes on the parking deck. This course is certified by USA Track &
Field. There will be one water stop on the course near the 2 mile mark and each mile will be marked as
well. The 1 Mile Fun Run will begin and end in the same place. It’s an out and back course through the
Community.
AWARDS
Awards for the 5K will be presented to the first three overall men and women and to the top three
finishers in each of the following age divisions (both genders): 12 and under, 13-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34,
35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90 and over.
RESULTS
The results for the competitive 5K participants will be posted at the race and also at www.runnc.com. All
results will count towards state records and national rankings.
POST RACE PARTY

All participants are invited to join us after the race to enjoy music, food and beverages.
