Glenaire 5K

OVERVIEW

Glenaire Retirement Community is proud to present the fifth annual Glenaire 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run on Saturday, March 27, 2021. The race usually starts and finishes at the Community located at 5000 Glenhope Court in Cary. This year’s race will again be virtual and that’s reflected in the reduced entrance fees. Hopefully, we can all get back together next year!

Most race entries include a swag bag, a coupon for a free Papa Murphy’s pizza and our very popular t-shirt.

This virtual race provides you an opportunity to run this course or any other 5K course from March 21– 27, 2021. Once you have completed your course you can upload your time into RaceReach.  Please note that the residents and staff will be on the course Saturday, March 27th from 8:00am – 10:30am.  We ask that you refrain from running the course during that time only.  You are welcome to stand along the course and cheer them on, but we are still under limited visitor restrictions on campus.

RACE BENEFICIARY

As a non-profit, Presbyterian-affiliated organization, Glenaire has never asked any residents to leave our community simply because they have outlived their resources. In its 27 years, Glenaire has provided well over $5 million in financial assistance. In 2021, we expect to provide over $445,000.00 in scholarship funds. 100% of race proceeds will support this cause.

ENTRY FEES

The 5K entry fee is $20. The 1-Mile Fun Run fee is $15 with no late fee. Registered children under the age of 12 are free, but this does not include a t-shirt unless you choose to purchase one for $10. T-shirts are guaranteed to all those who register by March 10, 2021. After that date, they will be “as available”.

PACKET PICK UP

Early packet pick up will be on Thursday, March 25th, from 4:30 – 7 pm at Bond Brothers Beer Company, 202 E Cedar St, Cary, NC 27511.

COURSE

This is a fast and rolling course through the neighborhoods near downtown Cary. It takes a short tour on the Higgins Greenway. It starts and finishes at the Glenaire Retirement Community. This course is certified by USA Track & Field. There will be two water stops on the course and each mile will be marked as well as the halfway point. The 1-Mile walk will begin and end on the parking deck and will be an out-and-back course through the Community.
